My Dream

I created Resourceful Designer to both gather and share what it takes to run a successful graphic and web design business. Through the podcast and this site, I hope to impart some knowledge of the skills and tools required to remain competitive in today’s design industry.

I entered the graphic design space in 1989 and I’ve never stopped learning. Over the years I’ve learned tips and tricks and acquired the knowledge needed to allow me to succeed in this competitive industry. In 2005 I started my own home-based graphic design business. A decision I’ve never regretted.

Now, I share that knowledge and experience with you via the Resourceful Designer podcast and blog. There are so many great resources online that teach us various design techniques but few that teach us what it takes to remain lucrative while employing those skills. That’s why I chose to focus on the aspects of running a graphic design business. I hope you find my content valuable. If you do enjoy what I have to offer please share it with other designers.

My name is Mark Des Cotes. I’m a graphic and web designer. Am I the best at what I do? Of course not. But I do have over three decades of experience as a designer, and I want to share what I’ve learnt and what I’m still learning with you. Click here to find out more about my story.
